Exploring the intersection of Leadership, Faith, and Society

We think it is important for Christian students at VT to learn to think deeply about what their faith has to say about their studies.

In the Fellows program, we will lay the biblical and theological foundation needed to approach this well, and then begin to tackle the questions like

Who is God?

What is He doing in the world?

Who am I?

Who is my neighbor?

What am I doing with my life?

We think the Scriptures and Christian faith have something to say about what you are learning in school, and about the questions of meaning, purpose, and identity you are guaranteed to encounter in the university.

The BSC Fellows Program offers undergraduate and graduate students a biblical and theological foundation during their time at Virginia Tech. Combining rich community and conversation, Christian spiritual formation, and the historic resources of the Christian tradition, this program helps students to see their studies and callings in the light of the gospel. This multi-semester program aims to provide a grounding in the best of what the Christianity —the Bible, the early church, and more recent Christian writers—says about what it means to bring our whole lives into God’s story for the world.

“The BSC Fellows program created an amazing community surrounded with dinners and theological conversations. Anyone who is interested in discussing scripture, Christian living, and theology I would recommend to join the Fellows program.”

“The Bradley Study Center Fellows program has truly enriched my experience as a student at Virginia Tech. The program has enabled me to connect with other believers in the university setting, deepened my faith and understanding of Scripture, and most importantly, has helped me make a lasting connection between my faith and my work as an engineering PhD student. I highly recommend this experience to students of every stage and field of study!”

The BSC Fellows Program includes:

Spiritual and Intellectual Formation

We want to immerse students in the riches of the Christian intellectual tradition, and find meaningful ways to connect the Christian faith to our everyday lives.  We’ll explore major themes in the Bible’s overall narrative, and read great thinkers like Augustine, C.S. Lewis, and Flannery O’Connor.

Cohort-based Learning

In small discussion groups, fellows explore important themes in the Christian faith and how it informs their everyday lives.  Led by trained facilitators, students journey together in discovering how God works in history and in our present context.  Reading for each week will be around 15-20 pages.

Building Community

We meet weekly for dinner during the semester, providing an opportunity for students to connect with each other and engage with perspectives from different church and campus ministry backgrounds.
