In light of the violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville six months ago, Virginia Tech political scholar Brandy Faulkner and Christian theologian Kristopher Norris will examine the role of religion in both perpetuating and resisting racism. In dialogue with each other and the audience, they will reflect on their experiences in Charlottesville on August 12 and, drawing from that event, discuss questions such as: Do black and white Christians conceptualize justice in the same way? How do African American Christians make sense of their engagement in a religion that all too often has been used to perpetuate racism? How do white Christians examine their history and think seriously about what reconciliation requires?
