SUMMARY:What Does it Mean to be Eastern Orthodox?
DESCRIPTION:Many have wondered why there is such a diversity of Christian denominations and traditions. It’s a great question! Join us for our ongoing series, “Exploring the Breadth & Beauty of the Church,” as we explore many of Christianity’s various traditions. Learn from the histories, liturgies, polities, controversies, and practices of other denominations and appreciate their shared commitment to Jesus Christ as the central figure of their faith.\nWe’ll be continuing this series on Thursday evening, March 19 by exploring the Eastern Orthodox tradition with Guest Speaker, Father Michael Furry, Priest at St. Innocent of Alaska Eastern Orthodox Mission. We hope you’ll join us!\n RSVP HERE\nA bit about our Guest Speaker:\nFather Michael Furry is an Eastern Orthodox Christian priest. He moved to Salem, VA in 2001 to found the Saint Innocent of Alaska Eastern Orthodox Church with his wife and three now-grown children (all of whom are still actively involved in the greater Orthodox Church). Beginning in 1989, they also did missionary outreach in Virginia with their St. Innocent of Alaska Eastern Orthodox Bookmobile. For more information, you can peruse their website www.stinnocent.com, which was first created in 1994.\nThis project was made possible through the support of an award from the Stephen & Laurel Brown Foundation, through the support of a grant from the John Templeton Foundation. The opinions expressed in this publication are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of either the Stephen & Laurel Brown Foundation or the John Templeton Foundation.\n\n \n \n
