SUMMARY:Short Course on The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis
DESCRIPTION:\nIn The Great Divorce, C. S. Lewis reimagines the venerable literary tradition of chronicling a journey through the underworld. As the narrator experiences Lewis’ imagined Hell and Heaven, he discovers truths beyond the literal reality of the places he visits— they are, after all, allegorical. What strikes the narrator most are the distinctive traits of the people (souls) he meets along the way, and the implications for those still on the mortal plane.\nJoin us this November and December for our short course on C.S. Lewis’ Book The Great Divorce. We are honored to be having Connie Bayliss join us to facilitate and teach this reading group short course!\nWe will begin meeting Tuesday evening, November 4 at 6:30pm at the BSC. This course will run for 4 gatherings: 11/4, 11/11, 12/2, and 12/9. Book copies provided.\nInterested in joining this course? RSVP HERE\n \nGet to know our Course Facilitator:\nConnie Bayliss joined VT’s Office of Undergraduate Academic Integrity in 2023. Growing up in the Roanoke area, she attended Washington and Lee University, earning a BA in English and Medieval & Renaissance Studies. She completed an MA in English Literature through a program with Middlebury College while teaching, spending most of her time with a Medieval Humanities high school class at a classical Christian School in Savannah, GA. Her love of the Lord and his communication with us through literature influenced her classes every day, and she loves to examine works by authors like C.S. Lewis, which help us understand God better through story. Connie has been involved with the BSC since joining VT, and is passionate about its work in promoting academic dialogue and the pursuit of truth.\n \n
